FC Porto and Atletico Madrid paid tribute to late Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva before the start of their pre-season friendly on Sunday. Jota and Silva tragically passed away one month ago in a car accident in Spain. Since their deaths, tributes have poured in across the football world and Liverpool have retired Jota's No.20 jersey.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Jota, who took in spells at both Atletico and Porto before his move to English football in 2017, were involved in a pre-season friendly at Estadio do Dragao in Portugal. Just before kick-off, players from both sides gathered around the centre circle and paid tribute to Jota and Silva with a moment of silence, and the entire stadium then applauded as a mark of respect. A video was also shown on the giant screen honouring the two brothers, while fans also applauded again in the 20th minute of the match to acknowledge Jota's old shirt number.
